"But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment.
.
Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along.
.
On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames.
But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a home filled with God’s righteousness.
.
And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in His sight."
[2 Peter 3:11-14]

As my definition of the word "home" has been challenged since moving away from my hometown, I have clung to this verse. I am eagerly awaiting this moment. When I am HOME. When this world dissolves and God's righteousness is a new reality. When I am finally, truly home.
.
Knowing what awaits me at the end of this road of life, I am convicted and encouraged to live a 'peaceful life that is pure and blameless in His sight.' This idea of an eternal home with the Lord is daunting, sure, but it is AMAZING. 'Filled with God's righteousness'!? Seriously? I get to be a part of that?
.
Yes! God...the creator of the universe, of laughter, sunshine, and goodness has promised a home full of Himself-full of good. I can't wait. But I have to, and in the meantime I can tell people about this good God and the beautiful home he is calling us all to.
.
The door to His house, thankfully, never closes.
